Athletic Sports

The summer period features a wide array of athletic events, including primary, intermediate and secondary schools championships, inter schools events and a Central Region meeting.

Very few centres in New Zealand can offer such a venue for schools events at a price that all schools can afford. The facilities for all track and field events are of the highest standard and encourage children to give of their best and to continue their interest in the sport.

If you can, make sure you attend your children's or grandchildren's events to encourage them in their efforts, particularly through their school's meetings.

During the summer months over which daylight saving operates, Athletics Wanganui holds its club nights every Tuesday evening, commencing at 5:00pm, with training being undertaken on Monday and Thursday evenings.

Wanganui Cycling Club events and training take place in the velodrome every Thursday evening and Sunday afternoon.
